Hello dear Substack followers. I would like to start by thanking all of you for subscribing and continuing to subscribe to my Substack. I understand that some of you are not into the podcast and to that I can only say, come on now. It’s a good show! I have slowly built things up so that now you can barely tell when my dogs interrupt a guest to go outside, or come inside, or go outside, or come inside. Please give the last episode a listen and, if you don’t like it, that’s fine, but you should still share it with 10 friends.
You will notice from the headline that this is not a Friday Night Pints column. Truth be told, I haven’t really been drinking this week and the beer that I did have was all old news to you. If you want some recommendations on which six-pack to pick up this weekend, I would say anything from Highlands Brewing from Salmon or the latest Lost Grove Robot hazy beer. Or, just get Dagger Falls. It’s all good. With March Madness going on this weekend, you probably want to stick to something light that you can drink throughout the amazing long days and nights of college hoops. It’s a bummer that Boise State didn’t get in, but March Madness is still pretty great.
Two big things happened to me in the last week that I want to express on this page. I have officially signed the contract for my next book! It will be about Idaho Wine and the Snake River Valley AVA. I am super excited to be signing with my old publisher, Arcadia Publishing, and working with The History Press. They are a great publisher for me because they allow me to create my book and they give very little editorial notes. This will be a travel book and will be written as such. Idaho Beer was more of a narrative that followed the premise that Idaho could be sucked up into the atmosphere and we would still create some amazing beers. This book will focus more on the wineries, regions, and the best way to enjoy them. I am stoked to start this project and will keep you updated as things develop. If you have any ideas for titles, or chapters, or have any pictures from wineries back in the day, please email them to idahoboozepod@gmail.com.
The second bit of news is that I will be featured on City Cast Boise next week to talk about local breweries and the economy of tariffs. It was a lot of fun chatting with Lindsay and her producers about this important topic and I hope that I didn’t fuck up too much on some of the facts. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think about my appearance. Working with City Cast Boise is an amazing opportunity for me and I think I did a good job of representing myself, so check it out on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Thanks again for continuing to subscribe to my Substack and for listening to the pod. I went into this thing without any reservations about how many readers or followers I would gather and that if it was just me and my close friends reading this, then I would be happy. It turns out there are more of you who enjoy the column and pod, and for that, I am eternally grateful. That being said, please share it.
